Orange County Criminal Defense Attorney
Law Office of Joe Dane
I was a prosecutor for 12 years before opening my own practice to focus on criminal defense law. Now, I do one thing - defend good people who find themselves in trouble. I have extensive experience in all aspects of criminal law.
Before law school, I was a Deputy Sheriff in L.A. County, working uniformed patrol. There, I handled all kinds of cases - from DUI, child abuse, robbery and domestic violence up to murder and manslaughter cases.
I went to Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, where I worked full-time while going through law school. Despite my crazy schedule, I received academic awards in criminal law and torts. I graduated in December, 1995 and took the California Bar Exam in February 1996.
While working as a Deputy District Attorney in Tulare and Orange Counties, I was twice honored as the prosecutor of the year. I have taught state-wide to other attorneys on a variety of criminal law topics - trial tactics, child abuse, DNA, preliminary hearing procedures, jury selection and legal ethics. I also teach at a state-approved police academy, covering all aspects of criminal law - laws of arrest, search and seizure law, Miranda and interrogation law, crimes against children, weapons violations and criminal procedure.
